Revitalizing a coffee table is easier than you may think

If  you want to restore a coffee table then follow these few steps and see how easy it can be. You are just an hour away from having a brand new looking coffee table. When it comes to small coffee tables there is nothing better than always having something new.

1.       The first thing you need to do is sand the coffee table to get all the blemishes out. I recommend using 60 grit sandpaper first and then follow it up with 100 grit sandpaper to make sure the wood is smooth and blemish free. I do not recommend using a sander because of the power it has, it’s much better to simply do it by hand for the first couple times.
2.       After you have used the 100 grit sandpaper you must go even higher to unsure that the wood has a nice smooth finish. I suggest using 200 and then a final time with 600 grit. The best place to get 600 grit sandpaper is at a hardware store because almost all other stores will not carry something that high.
3.       After you have done the last sanding you will need to use something in order to fill any mistakes or holes that you might have made, I would recommend a decent wood putty that can be stained. You will have to ask the store employees what they recommend because all stores carry different products.
4.       After you have puttied the blemishes or holes you’ll want to After you’ve filled any holes or mistakes you may have made it is time to treat the coffee table.
5.       Now that you’re staining or treating the coffee table make sure you apply it in the same direction as the grain. The method I follow is to apply the stain or treatment and then gently sand it with 600 grit sandpaper. I suggest doing this two or three times.
6.       After you have done step 5 you then need to apply stain one last time and let it sit. Make sure you do not scratch the treatment now because it’ll be very noticeable now.
7.       Now that you have done this it’s time for you to put on a sealer and complete your revitalization process of your recently used coffee table and now new coffee table.
How I started doing this was by buying a bunch of small coffee tables to refine my skills and now I have moved onto starting on bigger pieces.

The simple reason slate coffee tables are better than wood

When designing your house it’s important to know the different styles of coffee tables, and this is exactly the way I learned about the many beneifits of coffee tables made of slate. Do you know what slate is and why it’s great for your house?

Slate is simply a sedimentary rock made up of clay and volcanic ash that when combined creates a foliated rock.

The process of forming slate most likely does not interest you and that is fine, but it’s beneficial to see why I think it’s perfect for a coffee table. Coffee tables composed of slate are incredible in many different ways.
The first reason slate is so perfect is because it is made of natural materials that when removed from the environment it will not have any negative effects. I bet you cannot say the same thing about coffee tables made of wood though, right?.

Wood tables are stylish and do have their place in some peoples homes but when individuals are trying to be green utilizing wood just does not make any sense. Think about it, if individuals are attempting to cut back on fuel and electricity why would they spend their hard earned money on an item that is just placing them back a step or two, it does not make any sense.

Something you have to know about slate coffee tables.

One thing you have to understand regarding slate coffee tables is that at some point in the life of the table table it will get dinged and dented but the wonderful thing about them is you can use a tool to easily scrape away some of the layers and you will have a brand new looking coffee table. This is something that you can do with wood coffee tables but because most wood coffee tables are stained it will create a lot more work for you. That’s why I prefer to stay with small coffee tables created from slate.

Know How To Pick The Best Coffee Table For Your Home

When it comes to picking the right coffee table for your home there is a process that you must go through. Coffee tables are more than just a place to place your coffee down on, they’re used to hold photos, magazines, books, lamps, and lots of otheritems. Here are the three things you need to understand when it comes to picking the right coffee table for your house.
1.       Pick the location – Picking the location of each coffee table is important to knowing which coffee table you’ll end up getting. For example, you do not want buy a coffee table that’ll only work in a dark room if your rooms are white. In my experience it’s wise to write down what you want to see in each room that way you will know exactly what you are looking for. Most people when they’re looking for a coffee table for their home they simply go to a furniture store and pick what looks nice and is on sale. This isn’t the best thing to do because you need to follow the process.
2.       Size matters – Like with everything in your home you need to know what size will work the best and here is how you tell. Now that you understand where the coffee table is going you can pick which height, width, and length will work best for each spot. Don’t think about how that specific coffee table will look with the rest of the furniture in your room just yet, that’ll come in the next part. In this part you only want to decide which size will work best in each spot in your home.
3.       Color is everything – Do you want a coffee table that’s white, black, wood grain, or what color are you looking for? Choosing a color is very important because some colors don’t mesh well like others do. Once you have the location you should be able to pick which color shouldmatch best with your room. One of the things I have noticed a lot lately is that individuals match up their entertainment centers with their coffee tables even though the rest of their stuff doesn’t match. Do not just match certain things, make your whole room flow and look like it’s supposed to be a singe room, not a bunch.
Now that you understand how to choose the right coffee table for your home go out there and find the best one. If you need more advice on picking the correct coffee table then click here for more tips and tricks on placing small coffee tables in your house.
